Vicuña, the smallest member of the camel family, lives wild in the Andes regions of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. Anciently considered a gift from Inti, God of the Sun, capable of melting snows into rivers nourishing the fields, Vicuña embodied the divine gratefulness for the gifts offered by the Inca populations. Vicuna has the finest fiber: only 12/13 microns of average diameter. The adult animal produces only 250 gr of raw material every two years.
